A Rebuild and Re-Brand Story

When I was invited to participated in this project, my goal was to be an individual contributor on the technology aspect. As the project developed and the group structure start to shape, my contributions became more and more impactful making my participation crucial for the brand of the group.

My first project was to build the Internal SharePoint site and create a new logo and brand identity. Here I will go over this process and how I became the group president on a rebrand after the pandemic layoffs.

The Concept

The idea for logo came from the innovation starting from within Kohler it self. The Y and K are sharp and precise, giving emphasis on the top portion of the graphic. That represent structure of the business, the standards and the status quo.

The P in the middle is round focusing on the base, be beginning and shape from square to round to represent change and innovation.

The colors used are based from the internal communication pallet provided by the communications team.

The letter are lower case as reference of the tech company logos giving again reference to new opportunities and inventions.

During the 2020 Pandemic, Kohler suffer major layoffs and the YPK team became extremely depleted.

Being one of the few remaining founders member, I took the opportunity to lead the team on a restructure. We had to adapt the cores models to the new reality and structure a plan to attract new participants.

With the new plan in place, focus on member professional development and meaningful network interactions I also led the re-brand.

New inspired by tradition

The new color palette is inspired on te heritage colors for the celebrations of the Kohler 150 years. The internal site now is not only source of information of past and future events but is a platform to promote the members and create engagement. Modern and silk designs that are flat vectors complement the dynamic envoroment and make a BOLD statement on the message.

During this time we manage to recruit an entire new team, training new members for leadership positions, and menage to be one of the first BRG groups to host a in person event after the pandemic. the inclusive and upbeat group is one of the most actives in Kohler and with the community with constant partneship with local professional groups such as the Sheboygan Young Professional initiative.
